The Plum Pit

In 1967 my grandfather opened the Plum Pit. What began as a modest, little boutique soon became a sought-after destination for acquiring taboo items of the era, such as water pipes and other paraphernalia that were frowned upon during those times. As our popularity grew, boasting four locations and a soda pop line called Purple Rush, unforeseen challenges started to emerge.
With the rise of similar shops catering to the counterculture movement and the tightening grip of federal regulations, competition and pressure mounted. I still recall stories of my family hurriedly disposing of pipes in the dumpster to avoid the consequences of police crackdowns on businesses involved in distributing such products. Unfortunately, due to conflicting interests and sentimental attachments within the family, I was unable to carry on the Plum Pit legacy.
Nevertheless, my aim is to preserve the charm and essence of our beloved shop by returning to our roots and focusing on the local arts that make our world truly vibrant. Whether you visit us to snag a t-shirt or enjoy performances by local bands, please know that you are supporting talented individuals who often go unrecognized. In a world dominated by corporate giants and generic establishments, it is crucial to recognize the value that small businesses bring—uniqueness and freshness that breathe life into our cities.
Hence, we chose the name Blacklist Provisions to symbolize our commitment to offering products and ideas that are not commonly found in a conventional setting. This includes merchandise by local bands, as well as items carefully curated by myself. We have expanded our inventory to include new offerings such as Vaporizers, CBD topicals/edibles, and more. We aspire to create a hub for alternative style band merchandise and low batch apparel and accessories.

Reflecting on the wild and experimental times of the 60s, where scientific research was scarce and new substances were emerging, we have come a long way in understanding what truly benefits us rather than harms us. As you step into our shop, you will notice our shift towards a more holistic approach, going beyond the traditional smoke shop experience. You won't find items like "bones" or freebase kits here anymore (sorry fellas), for we prioritize the well-being of the mind, body, and spirit—and we hope you do too!
